St. Anthony School is helping the Awaso Canadian Academy Foundation with their fundraising. Last school term, we raised over $3000.00 through various undertakings such as: a wake-a-thon, service projects, pizza, ice cream & smarties sales, and reading books.

What is the Awaso Canadian Academy Foundation? It is North Americans building schools and futures for African children. Their mission is to enable the people to help themselves through providing education for the children of Awaso, Ghana, Africa. They are currently building a 7000 square foot school in Awaso. The name of the school will be “Awaso Academy International”

Roots of Empathy
Roots of Empathy is an award winning, evidence-based classroom program that has shown dramatic effect in reducing levels of aggression among schoolchildren by raising social/emotional competence and increasing empathy. The 639-page curriculum is divided into nine themes, with three classroom visits supporting each theme (a pre-family visit, family visit, and post-family visit) for a total of 27 visits. The ROE curriculum addresses the affective side of education, but the activities have many links to the classroom curriculum.
